Project Background/Challenges: The Jiangsu section of the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, a national main road, experiences heavy traffic. Traditional high-pressure sodium lamps have excessively high energy consumption (400W/lamp), high maintenance costs (annual maintenance exceeding 80,000 RMB), and lack intelligent dimming capabilities. They also suffer from poor penetration in rainy and foggy conditions and insufficient illumination uniformity (less than 0.6), posing safety hazards.
HTY Solution: A three-pronged approach of "light source upgrade + intelligent control + power supply optimization" was adopted. The light source uses 150W high-power LED streetlights (luminous efficacy 180lm/W, color temperature 4000K, color rendering index ≥70); the intelligent control system incorporates LoRaWAN single-lamp controllers (supporting PWM dimming with 1% accuracy), edge computing gateways (interfacing with ETC traffic flow data), and a cloud platform (for remote monitoring and fault alarms); power supply optimization is achieved through three-phase load balancing (unbalance rate reduced to 6%) and intelligent reactive power compensation (power factor increased to 0.95), reducing line losses.
Results and Value: After the upgrade, energy consumption decreased by 30%, the failure rate was less than 0.5%, and the project received the title of "Green Smart Transportation Demonstration Zone." Annual electricity savings reached 840,000 kWh (carbon emission reduction of 1800 tons), driver satisfaction increased by 75%, and long-term operation and maintenance costs decreased by 62.5%.
